getting organised to travel

I do love a holiday, but going away especially with a young family takes a lot of prep and organisation!

From packing the last minute essentials on the day of travel to stepping foot in my hotel or rental I want to make it as easy as possible - so that I can enjoy my holiday and not stress, so its key to be organised before hand.

My top tips:

  1. Try on clothes before you go - don’t be at risk of being over weight on luggage, and take out the stress of what to wear and filling your suitcase with unnecessery items! Pack in outfits so that you only take away what you will actually wear!

  2. Pack an outfit/underwear/swimwear/sandals in your hand luggage - its happened before where your luggage may get lost, take the stress away and make sure you have at least one outfit and swimwear to wear should it happen so you can at least enjoy your first day of holiday.

  3. Toiletries - You do not need to take with all your toiletries, so decant your favourites into some small bottles so there is less worry over your suitcase being over weight.

  4. Folding hangers - I wear a lot of dresses on holiday and there is never enough hangers available, so packing my folding hangers is essential so that I can hang my clothes and they don’t get creased.

  5. Multi plug point - we take away a lot of devices, iphones, ipads, hairdryers - the list goes on! I find it so much easier to use a multi plug socket to ensure everything is charged and I can still blow dry my hair ;)

  6. Packing cubes - If you pack and categorise your clothes into cubes, its so much easier once you get on holiday, you don’t need to faff and you know exactly where everything is. I use different colours for different members of the family, so I can easily unpack and enjoy the holiday from the moment we get into the room.

  7. Write a list - before you go write a list of what you need to take with you on holiday in the notes section of your phone, and then you can edit it before any holiday and update it with any additional items. This ensures you do not forget anything especially when you are packing for a family. See my example list below;
