playhouse hack
Last summer I wanted to create something special for the girls birthday.
With lockdown in full swing, we decided to transform a Kidkraft Playhouse for the garden as we were spending a lot of time at home and I knew the girls will love it for years to come.
Here are some of my key tips and tricks and links to what I got to make it really special. Please note, if I couldn’t find the same products I have worked to find something similar!
TIPS
Try to paint as much as possible before assembling it. It is really heavy once built so make sure its in position!
We used pre-cut MDF for the floor and nailed the laminate flooring to the bottom of it
Use spray paint for the windows and smaller parts (post box/bbq cover) - I am pretty sure I will have to go over some of the smaller pieces I painted as it was hard to get a good finish with normal paint.
In the winter bring in as many accessories as possible and cover the playhouse. It won’t survive if you leave it to the open elements, and certain pieces, especially any soft furnishings will go mouldy. I covered any artwork with sticky back plastic to ensure it was water proof.
